Chicago Fire Camps and Training
Recruitment Process
The Michigan Chill SBC Soccer Clubs coaching staff is made up from a number of coaches from the Chicago Fire Camps and Training. Each year the Chicago Fire Camps and Training recruit about 200 coaches to staff their training programs and camps throughout the Midwest. The Chicago Fire Camps and Training employ various levels of coaches that includes recreational, competitive and elite to suit the needs of the programs they serve. The Michigan Chill SBC has a contract with them for Elite coaches only. These coaches are selected as elite coaches based on their high level qualification, work experience, playing experience and educational backgrounds. This affiliation with Chicago Fire Camps and Training ensures that our club is prepared for steady growth and will always have high level coaches available to our players.
Coaches are recruited via the following steps.
1. Online Applications are received and reviewed.
Chicago Fire Camps and Training receive over 2000 applications from the UK and USA each year,
2. Potential Candidates invited to a recruitment night.
Candidates attend a night with current Chicago Fire Camps and Training employees and observe presentations about the company, its vision and its product. About 1500 people attend the recruitment nights.
3. Interview
Candidates are interviewed by one of the UK or USA recruitment consultants and asked to describe their coaching / playing experiences and qualifications. Approximately 1000 people are given a formal interview each year.
4. Assessment Days
From the interviews a number of candidates are selected to attend a assessment day with the recruitment consultants and current elite coaches. The candidates will observe a number of coaching sessions from current Chicago Fire Camps and Training employees and then conduct a session themselves that is graded by the recruitment consultant. Approximately 500 people are assessed each year.
5. Selection
Once the assessment days are complete the recruitment consultant will select the best candidates to be employed buy Chicago Fire Camps and Training. The recruitment consultant considers coaching qualifications, playing experience, attitude, punctuality and educational background when making their decisions. About 200 coaches are selected.
6. Incoming Weekend
Once coaches arrive in the Chicago they will all attend a incoming weekend (Fri - Mon). During this weekend the coaches are assigned to various clubs depending on the needs of the club. Coaches are also offered information during the weekend about living in the US, driving and the state of soccer in the US today. This is the final part of the selection process and ensures all coaches are ready to serve their clubs to the highest possible level.
