Coaching Staff Addition

The Chill SBC Soccer Club is excited to announce Ex Professional Liverpool FC (England) Goalkeeper Paul Lancaster as our lead Goalkeeper Coach for the upcoming season. Paul will join Neil McKay and Stuart Greer on the club's goalkeeper staff this week. Paul will begin training with each of the club's goalkeepers tonight and will bring a wealth of experience to the club that cannot be matched.

Paul, who is orignally from Preston, England began playing for Liverpool FC in their Academy aged 9 years old. He then made his way through the youth ranks and into the professional team when he was 18. Along the way Paul has had the pleasure of playing with Liverpool greats such as Steven Gerrard (England Captain), Xabi Alonso (World Cup Winner 2010), Pepe Reina (World Cup Winner 2010) and Jerzy Dudek (Polish International GK). Paul has also travelled with the squad across Europe and most notabley with the team during their 2005 UEFA Champions League winning season. During his career Paul has been exposed to some great coaches including Rafa Benitez (Inter Milan Manager), Gerard Houlier (French FA Technical Director and Aston Villa Manger), Sammy Lee (Liverpool FC Assisitant Manager), Hughy McAuley (Former Liverpool FC Reserve Team Manager), Steve Highway (Former Liverpool FC Academy Director), and John Owens (Liverpool FC Academy Manager).

We are thrilled to add Paul to our staff for the upcoming season and his announcement once again proves our commitment to providing the best goalkeeper training environment in Michigan. Coach Neil will move from full time goalkeeping to work with two teams and will assist Paul with the Goalkeeper program this fall. We hope that you are as excited about Paul as we are and please be sure to give him a warm welcome when you see him at training this week.

CHILL SBC NEWSLETTER VOL 63

BY BEN JONES

Welcome to the 63rd edition of the Chill SBC Soccer Club newsletter. The fall season is almost upon us!

Midland Fusion Invitational Tournament Recap

I am pleased to report a great weekend at the Fusion Invitational tournament for all teams and coaches. It was a weekend filled with highlights as Chill teams played their first games of the year together. It was great to see the base camp set up over the weekend with the Chill flags flying in the wind and families and players from all teams getting to know one another. As usual the support on the sidelines from parents and players was second to none and it was great to see so many players supporting other Chill teams and cheering them on. On the field we had some great results with six teams coming home with 1st place and two teams finishing as runners up. I had the opportunity to watch many teams in action all over the complex this past weekend and was very excited with the level of play. I know all the coaches came home even more excited than they already where for the season ahead. Thanks to all players, coaches, parents and team managers for making the weekend so special and once again showing what a special atmosphere we have here at the club.
