CHILL SBC NEWSLETTER VOL 135

BY BEN JONES

Welcome to the 135th edition of the Chill SBC Soccer Club newsletter. I hope that everyone enjoyed a great weekend of games

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Chill SBC Moms!

A happy belated Mothers Day to all the great Chill SBC Moms out there! We do hope you had a great day and if you were out on the fields we hope you were treated to a great game of soccer! Thanks for all you do for your sons/daughters and for the Chill Soccer Club!

Chill SBC Teams Enjoy Success at Novi Jaguars Invitational

Three Chill SBC teams travelled to the Novi Jaguars Invitational Tournament this past weekend to compete against some of the best teams in the Midwest. The U9 Boys Blue, U9 Boys White and the U9 Girls Blue coached by Robert Cheyne went into the weekend with high expectations and played some excellent soccer over the course of the weekend. Below is a quick recap of each teams weekend!

The U9 Girls Blue won their first three games of the tournament to advance to the championship game on Sunday afternoon. The girls beat some stiff competition in Mi Jaguars, LSCS Meteors and Mi Burn in some close games before eventually being beat by Mi Jaguars in the final 2-1. It was a great weekend for the girls who really showed what a great team they can be in the coming years if they continue to stick together, work hard and enjoy their soccer!

The U9 Boys Blue started the tournament off with a tough 5-2 loss to Dexter before bouncing back to win their next two games 4-2 vs Mi Alliance and 4-3 against Mi Jaguars. Unfortunately that early loss to Dexter put the boys out of contention for a place in the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon and the tournament ended a little earlier than they would like. The boys did play some great soccer over the course of the weekend and the experience gained in this competition will set them up nicely for the remainder of the spring season in WSSL Division One.

The U9 Boys White had an excellent weekend scoring 33 goals, conceding 12 and winning the bronze division of the tournament! After some very exciting games in group play the boys the beat Wayne United, Farmington Flash and Mi Jaguars before defeating Crew Jrs 7-4 in the final. Green cards to the boys for a great weekend of soccer, keep up the great play for the rest of the spring!

End of Season Awards Party – June 10th

Please mark your calendars for our annual end of season party on June 10th 2012. Like last year we will hold our party at Lake Lansing Park South and this years event will run from 4pm-8pm. We do hope that everyone can attend to celebrate another great season for the Chill SBC Soccer Club. More information to follow from Julie and your team manager soon!

Canton Cup Divisions and Schedules

We are expecting the Canton Cup schedules to become available some time this week and I will get those schedules to you via your team manager as soon as possible. I hope that everyone is looking forward to the tournament, it should be a great weekend of action with all Chill teams in attendance.

Tryouts 2012

Tryouts for the club will be June 16th and 17th with a make up date of June 18th. All tryouts will be held at the East Lansing Soccer Complex. Please mark your calendars for these dates and feel free to pass on this information to anyone you know who may be interested in joining the club for next year. More information will be posted on the website and emailed out closer to the date.

I hope everyone is having a great spring season so far. Please contact me if I can help with anything at all.

Thanks for reading!

CHILL SBC COACHES ACHIEVE USSF COACHING LICENSES
by posted 02/20/2012

The Chill SBC Soccer Club is excited to congratulate six of our coaches for achieving their next level of United States Soccer Federation (USSF) coaching licenses.

Director of Coaching, Ben Jones and Technical Director Stuart Greer achieved their USSF ‘A’ License in Bradenton, FL. This is the highest coaching license available in the United States and we are very proud of Ben and Stuart for achieving this award. Both Ben and Stuart also hold the highest coaching award available from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) the Premier Diploma. This makes them two of the most highly qualified coaches in Michigan and we are excited that they will use the information gathered on this course to continue to develop players at the club.

Darren Arnott and Robert Cheyne achieved their USSF ‘B’ License in Bradenton, FL. We are very proud of Darren and Robert for achieving this high-level license and look forward to both coaches taking their ‘A’ License sometime in the near future. In addition to the USSF License; Darren has achieved the Premier Diploma and Robert the Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Paul Lancaster and Elliot Dougall achieved their USSF ‘C’ License in Bradenton, FL. We are proud of Paul and Elliot for achieving this license and look forward to them taking part in more USSF Licenses in the future. In addition to their USSF License Elliot has achieved his Advanced National Diploma and Paul holds his National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Please take a moment of your time to congratulate the coaches when you see them at training or games this week. Investing in coaching education is the biggest investment that can be made for your child's benefit.  To our knowledge, there is no other club in Michigan that devotes this much effort in continued education to their coaching staff.  As always, we appreciate your support and hope you see the value in this investment in our staff.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any feedback or comments as your feedback is appreciated.

We wish all of the teams entering the tournament the best of luck. We know each team can do very well and go far in the competition if they play to their potential!
